On January 24th, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education reported the annual dropout and graduation rates at the state level as well as the district and individual school levels for the 2011-12 school year. Below are the dropout and graduation rates for the ten urban 'Commissioner's Districts.'

Statewide the dropout rate decreased from 2.7% in 2010-11 to 2.5% in 2011-12 while the
graduation rate increased 1.3 points to 84.7%. Lynn's dropout rate in
2011-12 was 4.1% which is a decrease of 0.5% from 2010-11; the
graduation rate increased by 5.1% from the previous year. Lynn's total
high school enrollment in 2011-12 was 3,907 so the 4.1% dropout rate meant
that 161 students dropped out during the school year. In terms of the individual high schools,
Lynn English had a 2.9% dropout, Lynn Classical had a 2.7% dropout rate and Lynn
Tech had a 4.8% dropout rate. Fecteau-Leary had the highest dropout rate at 29.0%. Among the urban
districts, Lynn tied for second in the dropout rate category along with Worcester and second in the graduation rate category (up from fifth in 2010-11).
