On January 27th, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education released the 2013 graduation rates at the district level. In 2013, Lynn's four-year graduation rate was 75.7%, an increase of 2% from 2012.
At the subgroup level, some subgroups saw a substantial increase in their graduation rate over the previous year. The graduation rate for Asian students was 85.2%, an increase of 7.2 percentage points over the previous year; the graduation rate for multi-racial, non-Hispanic students increased 14.7 points.
Overall, the statewide four-year graduation rate was 85%, up 0.3% from the previous year.
Graduation rates in Lynn did vary at the individual school level.
Lynn Tech's graduation rate increased from 66.8% in 2012 to 75.9% in 2013 while Classical's graduation rate increased from 80.9% to 87.8%.
Below is a comparison of the graduation rates of the Commissioner's ten urban districts for 2012 and 2013.
Of the urban districts, Lynn had the highest graduation rate in 2013 followed by Lowell (75.3%).
