The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education recently released the district enrollment figures for the 2016-17 school year as of October 1, 2016. Below are the enrollments for the ten Commissioner's districts with a comparison to the previous school year.
While most of these districts did report increases in their student
populations, some did report decreases. Four districts (Boston,
Brockton, Holyoke, and New Bedford) reported slight decreases in their
student populations from the previous school year; the reported changes
ranged from -267 in Boston to -22 in Holyoke.
